Nothing like a PR!

Nothing like a PR!

Due to popular demand, our office, The Center for Integrated Medicine, is teaming up with coach Paul Magsombol of Tenacity Performance Training as well as Mel Diab of Running for Kicks to co-host a SECOND FREE runner’s workshop, titled 5 Tips to a 2016 PR.  The workshop date is Monday, May 23, 2016 at 7 PM. Running for Kicks is located at 127th and Harlem in Palos Heights, IL (click HERE for a Google Map).  There will be a group run at 6 PM leaving from the store with the workshop immediately following at 7 PM.  Bring your running shoes, your passion for running and your enthusiasm to learn.

There is plenty of running information and misinformation out there on the internet and social media. There is even a sizable list of self-proclaimed running “gurus” that base training off dated principles and personal anecdotes rather than the latest research. Some of these gurus lack systematic processes and procedures to assess runners and adapt their training for performance enhancement and injury prevention. Unfortunately, dogma and misinformation are prevalent.

A range of 30-70% of runners are injured every year. This is a unusually high number, yet you wouldn’t consider running a dangerous sport on par with football, hockey, rugby or some of the extreme (X) sports. Even more runners aren’t able to achieve peak performance. Not everyone can train the same way, race the same way and get the results they want. We are all unique, yet there are some underlying and unifying principles that you should know that consistently lead to exceptional performances and injury reduction.

This workshop covers 2 key topics:

  1. The scope of the problem: Why is there an unusually high number injured in a “safe” sport? Why could your training get you into trouble or out of trouble?
  2. Provide 5 tips to stay injury free & PR in 2016

We are limited to the first 20 that RSVP due to space limitations. RSVP by calling The Center for Integrated Medicine at 708-532-2346 or emailing chris.sendzik@thecfim.com. We look forward to seeing you on Monday May 23rd.
